Unveiled as a V12 concept at the 1988 British International Motor Show in Birmingham, the Jaguar XJ220 reached production in 1992 as JaguarSport’s road car, developed with Tom Walkinshaw Racing and built at a purpose-built factory in Bloxham, Oxfordshire. Production cars used a 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 producing 542 hp.
In June 1992 Martin Brundle drove an XJ220 to 217.1 mph at the Nardò Ring in Italy, a figure recorded as the fastest for a standard production car at the time. Fewer than 300 were built between 1992 and 1994, at a retail price of £470,000 in 1992.
Our limited-edition 1:18 resin model shows the XJ220 in Black, with an opening engine cover revealing the mid-mounted V6.
